About Us –
MCTA was founded in 1999, and has endured over the years by attracting enthusiasts who enjoy the freedom to regularly engage with like-minded players unencumbered by rigid schedules, set partnerships, etc. We have regularly scheduled play sessions utilizing the Mattapoisett public courts.
MCTA is a member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). We are a non-profit organization, and welcome anyone within the surrounding area of Mattapoisett to show up at our sessions and, hopefully, to become participating MCTA members.
The minimally structured play sessions do present organization and management challenges. There is a need to accommodate irregular arrival and departure of players, keep off-court periods reasonably brief, and present competitive engagement for time on-court. An accompanying page describes our Drop-In Play procedures that have evolved to accommodate these disparate demands.
